Newport Beach Film Festival gets some Rewrite Beautiful!

Rewrite Beautiful is stoked to announce that we are a partner charity of the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival! We have joined forces with the directors of some amazing documentaries and films that will be shown at the festival, all centered around girls and women’s issues. The amazing line-up is:

Get Real! Wise Women Speak! Get Real! Wise Women Speak features extraordinary women including, Jane Fonda, Nikki Giovanni, Della Reese, Marianne Williamson, Susan L. Taylor, Jody Williams, indigenous elders and others who speak about their journey to the wise woman years and the inner fire that propels them to make the most of their wisdom and experience as they glean from age a greater sense of their own meaning, worth, beauty and connection to the larger world.

Finding Kind - Two young women from Orange County decide take a road trip across the country to document the severity of the negative and lasting effects resulting from girl-against-girl bullying. By establishing their internationally recognized school program known as the “Kind Campaign,” they aim to bring awareness and healing to all those affected through the promotion of kindness.

Miss Representation - Like drawing back a curtain to let bright light stream in, -i-Miss Representation-/i- uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. It’s clear the mainstream media objectifies women, but what most people don’t realize is the magnitude of that phenomenon and the way objectification gets internalized—a symbolic annihilation of self-worth—and impedes girls and women from realizing their full potential. While women have made strides in leadership over the past few decades, trivializing and damaging images continue to proliferate.

We will be speaking to the audiences before the films roll about ways they can get involved with their local non-profit Rewrite Beautiful and change the lives of women right here inOrangeCounty. We will be telling everyone about our upcoming Street Art Workshops and the Art Show we’re hosting the end of July at FIND Magazine and Art Gallery!

We are so honored to join forces for good with the Newport Beach Film Festival! You can too! Don’t miss out! Get your tickets to these shows by clicking the links below the images and come say “Hey Beautiful!”

Keepin’ it Beautiful,

Irvina

WOW. As a recovering 20-something Christian MAN living in SoCal, I to have have had my share of tsunami sized doses of family drama, family lose, Heart brake, OUCH, and although I was never nude lost in a foreign country, (I got to her that story) I've been fully clothed lost right her in SoCal and the repercussions of my selfishly poor choices....well I thank God I have the wisdom now not to make them again. And I have been looking for some time now, a way to help men or women, prevent making those same poor choices. Having said that, I only wish I would have found this site before. Regrettably today is the first day viewing this site. I have to say you have helped restore my faith in a truly BEAUTIFUL women. I thought these types of women were all but extinct. Primary because of a false sense of value or self confidence Hollywood TV advertising etc etc etc give to young girls and boys. Because lets not forget for every BEAUTIFUL women there should be a GREAT man. I only wish I could start a blog or outreach like you have. It would be for men I would call it rewritethinkning.com I'm here to say a couple things #1 Dont you ever change for nobody, keep pressing on never give up and spread your passion and views to every human being you come into contact with, because we need you. #2 Young men, boys, children, grown men are just as confused, un-realistic and lost as some many women, after all , we grew up in the same era. I used to be, and very successfully, one of these LOST BOYS. Some how some way (probably the pain and losing "everything") I finally grew up and started understanding what I once knew as an innocent child. The real meaning of a Women and Man. My mother who passed away a little of a year ago was one of these BEAUTIFUL women and she always taught me how to be a GREAT man. And like many including yourself I got sucked right into the chaos and false self imagine that's trusted upon us at an early age. Had I meat you at a younger age you would have changed my life even more then u have in 1 hour. This blog your doing is BEAUTIFUL, you IRVINA are BEAUTIFUL and I quote, "We’re the messy black sheep with green and purple paint on our fur and we’re proud of it! A" Are BEAUTIFUL. My heart and confidence is with you. Joshua 1:9 a verse a simple verse that's helped me in times of doubt and darkness. PS My grammar is horrible and spell check can only do so much. TVS

Holy smokin' bon fires! Thank you for your affirming comment TVS! I think I may have to print it out and put it above my desk to keep me inspired. You definitely have a way with words and know how to encourage. I think 'RewriteThinking.com' might be just up your ally! You should know that I never ever, ever would have thought I would start a project like Rewrite Beautiful, but it just goes to show that when we surrender to 'something greater than ourselves' God sized things, 'beyond our wildest dreams' happen for ourselves and others! I'll be prayin' for ya! Hugs!
