BEAUTIFUL Irvina
Irvina is the author of the Rewrite Beautiful blog as well as the Founder and Creative Director of www.RewriteBeautiful.org. As a 20-something living in Southern California she has experienced a tsunami sized dose of family drama, heart break, eating disorders and the repercussions of poor choices that have left her nude and or lost in foreign countries. With the help of friends, family and licensed professionals, recovery has been gained and sanity has been restored; yes, your children are still safe. However, the funny and humbling life lessons of a naïve and crazy California girl trying to find worth remain.
On her journey Irvina discovered that she was not alone in the population of women who find their worth in how ‘beautiful’ they are. As she re-built her life her mind frame changed and she started to see women’s beauty not for their aesthetics, but for their creativity, kindness and strength. The articles written on the Rewrite Beautiful blog are for the purpose of girls and women finding their own creativity, kindness and strength within themselves.
Irvina is a columnist on True Beauty for Lifestyle + Charity Magazine and a writer on addictions and eating disorders for CRC Health Care. She is a proud member of the underground book club-The Gypsy Snipers and a social obstructionist who delights in awkward moments. You can usually find her in coffee shops, taking in the cool at hipster dinner parties, translating ‘rockharbor speak’, slyly taking pictures in Art Museums and getting in trouble for taking pictures in Art Museums. Subtle isn’t exactly her forte.
